Do I need an llms.txt file for my shop?
Probably not yet. llms.txt is a proposed file listing a site's key pages for language models. Adoption grew quickly, but in Ahrefs' study of 137,000 domains 97% of llms.txt files received no requests from AI crawlers at all.
What actually decides it
- robots.txt: whether the AI search and answer crawlers are allowed in.
- Your firewall or CDN (often Cloudflare): whether it refuses those crawlers.
- Your HTML: whether the products are there without JavaScript.
- Product data: whether name, price and stock are stated clearly.
