Product data: the facts AI shopping compares
AI shopping answers compare name, price, currency and stock. Shops that state them in a standard format (schema.org Product data) don't leave the AI guessing.
What product data is
Product data is a small, invisible block in a product page that states the facts plainly for machines: the product's name, price, currency, whether it's in stock, its image and brand. The standard format is schema.org Product, the same one Google uses for shopping results.
Without it, an assistant has to work the price and stock out from the page's design text, and can get it wrong or skip your product.
How common the gap is
Shopify and most big hosted platforms write it for you. Custom-built shops, shops on less common platforms, and older themes often don't, or leave out price and stock. Nothing looks wrong to a human visitor, so it goes unnoticed.
Do this
- Check one product page with the free check: it lists exactly which facts are missing.
- If a developer built your shop, send them our free template: added once to your product page template, it covers every product and stays right when prices change.
